Last Day of Camp

my favorite part of camp was making bridges. I liked it because we used plastic pipe and popcicle sticks. I also liked playing bakugan with my friends.

fun(ny) stuff

On Wednesday we watched the YTA’s do a play. The play was very funny. At one point the two brothers were in a pot and then one of our actors said “no! I want to make dragon babies.” ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?  On Thursday the theme was pirates and you could get attacked by pirates while trying to do your activity.  In art we started to finish our stamps, my stamp is an eel. It was a great camp!

The Oregon Trail–Virtually!

On the first day, we played a game called the Oregon Trail for technology period.  You had 4 other people in the wagon and could play as a banker, carpenter, or farmer.  I chose the banker because he started out with the most money.  First, you bought all supplies you needed including oxen, food, clothing, ammo (for hunting), and spare parts for your wagon.  After that you set off on the trail.  You could adjust pace, food rations, rest, trade, and hunt for food.  The game had landmarks like rivers, canyons, and cities.  When crossing rivers, you could walk across, take a ferry, or caulk the wagon across.  Theives, diseases. and fires plagued the journey.  It is the most popular game in the camp.

My Adventures at Exploring Extremes

I have been to this camp in the past and it has improved every year!  This year we did new things such as rocket making, educational computer games, and bridge building.  When we made the rockets, we had straws, clay, and index cards.  We hit one of the instructors a couple of times it was fun.  The campers got to play educational games on a program that used old games from the 80’s on the MAC II including: Oregon Trail, Odell Lake and Miners Cave.  the last thing we did was bridge building where we made bridges out of tooth picks and we broke them the next day.  Overall I like exploring extremes.

My favorite thing

My favorite thing to do at camp was on a Thursday,we had cannon wars.We pulled two tables together and tried to knock over wooden ships on the other side of the room on two other tables.   We also shot rockets and most of them hit Mr. Joey! On the computers we played the  Oregon trails and other games.

three favorite activities at Exploring Extremes Camp

My favorite three activities in exploring extremes camp this week were: When we studied Mt. Everest I lovedwhen we had to walk the line with binocerlires backwards and with a leaf blower.  On Mt. Everest when the climbers get to a certin part of Mt. everest they have to check to see if your brain is not freezing so  the leaf blower is sopposed to be the wind

and the binoculers Are supposed to be your gogles getting blurey with that you have to walk acrros the line perfectly or ele you have to go back down the mountain.  The next best activity was in art we made sea creature stamps. Then we got to use them and stamp cards.  The last one was Oregon Trail, on the computers were you had to get to Oregon in a wagon with all your supplies.

rockets

My favorite thing at camp  was hitting Joey with rockets. I  also liked it when  a rocket went and hit the YTAs when they were relaxing. One rocket went and hit the other side of the room.

Exploring Extremes

I really liked when we made a mountain in art. My group and I made MT. Kilimanjaro. After we finished our mountain it was awesome. We just stacked up things and then we were done. The next day we used plaster it was so fun , but very messy. The day after that we painted. As you can see I had a fun time at EXPLORING EXTREMES!

Exploring Extremes

I really liked the  Exploring Extremes program at the Smithsonian.  One of my favorite things about this program was when we did the deep sea dive. We had to make the fish that would be hidden around the room.  To make the finding of the fish harder  we had to wear masks that were very hard to see through. Than they turned off the lights and it was almost impossible to see anything. I also made a lot  of new friends.

My Week At Camp.

This week at camp, we did a lot of fun stuff.   We Learned a lot, And had fun doing it. My favorite thing we learned about was exploring deep ocean waters and extrem-ophiles. I was already very interested in both topics. The activities we did that day were also fun  because they involved science, which is my favorite subject.

The other days were fun too. It was a real coincidence that we were doing stuff about mountains the day that the eleven hikers died while climbing K2. The day we did sailing was really fun. We had naval battles  (knocking over model ships with plastic balls), And we were attacked by pirates. The other things that we did included Building bridges, doing art projects, and more.

During lunch we played games like capture the flag. On Thursday, we did color wars, which is an event that takes place during lunch. Each different class dresses up in a different color and competes in a series of games. It was really fun, and the same can be said about the entire week at camp!

Favorite Things I did these week!

When  I first arrived at the camp I was so excited to explore some extreme. The camp turn out to be more than what I have expected. All the teachers were great and nice. I had such a nice time this week that I can’t decide the which one  I liked the most. So what I will do is write 4 favorite things. First one is building mountain with junk. Every four people had a continent to do. My continent was Europe. The next favorite one is creating a stamp. My stamp had picture of a crab. The 3rd favorite one is the technology. I liked every single game that we played in the class. Though if I had to pick one, I liked Number Munchers. The last one  is the canon fight. The thing we did was hitting with balls to other side’s boat. I just loved this week’s camp! I hope I can come to this camp next year again.

Extreme ‘Exploring extremes’

Here at camp there were a lot of extremely fun things that we did. There was hiking on a “mountain trail in a huricane” , shooting “cannonballs” at the enemy fleet, and finding deep sea fish while nearly blind from the depth of the water. It was five day’s of fun. I’ve done summer camp before but this was the most fun.

Exploring Extremes Rroooxxxxx

My favorite part of summer camp of all the activity stuff that involved us, a lot of the things we did were awesome. The YTAs were alot of fun. I liked doing the deep sea diving and the mountain climbing and pretty much everything. This camp is the best of all day camps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had a great time and definitely would come back.

Playing at Exploring Extremes

When I first arrived at Exploring Extremes Camp, I was so excited to make friends and have fun. Through out the week, my friends and I did loads of things such things like  simulating hiking Everest, making the seven summits of the world and  Simulating sailing around the world .

My favorite thing that I did in Exploring Extremes Camp was simulating sailing around the world. My friends and I got to have a war with the other team. We threw balls at each other to knock out the other team’s boats. It was so much fun.

I really enjoyed playing at Exploring Extreme camp. I want to come next year and play if I have a chance. ^^

My time at camp

My favorite thing that i liked about camp was all the activites that we all did!!!! my favorite activity was the pirate thing that we played. We got to fire canon balls and we had to pretend that we were like a yoeman and we put cubes into a little box. When we did that the counslars pretended to be pirates and they attacked us!!!!. The picture looks like I have no arms but I do!! ha!

Exploring Extremes

The things I liked the most was…well…I don’t know what I liked the most, I just liked all the things we did. But I did like the Colors Wars a lot. The green team  (Exporing Extremes) got second place in the Colors Wars. We built & broke briges, It was a lot of fun. We made stamps, saw a movie about Galapagus Islanmovie, For fun an American Chopper video and more.

CANNON BALL!!!!!!!!!

I LIKE IT WAS LIKE WICKED AWESOME.  WE LIKE THREW CANNON BALLS AT THE OTHER TEAMS SHIPS AND LIKE KNOCKED THEM OVER. THE CAMP DIRECTOR IS REALLY FUNNY AND MAKES GOOD JOKES.
WE HAD FUN THIS WEEK. WE PRETENDED TO CLIMB AND THEN BUILT MOUNTAINS

Mr. JOEY IS AWESOME

WE MADE DINOSAURS
WE HAD PIRATE BATTLES AND MET LOTS OF FRIENDS.
 WE HAD A “HURRICANE:”

EXTREME

THIS IS WHAT I DID IN CAMP,

  1. EXTREME MOUNTAINERING
  2. BUILDING
  3. SAILING
  4. FISHING

I HAD A LOT OF FUN AND SO DID MY FRIENDS. MY FAVORITE PART WAS ON THURSDAY WHEN WE DID THE CANNON BALL FIGHT DURING EXTREME SAILING.  THIS CAMP WAS TOTALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITES BECAUSE EVREY ONE IS SO SO SO NICE LIKE MY TWO BFFL’S.  I CANT EVEN PUT IN TO WORDS HOW FUN IT IS.

The best week ever!

I did alot of fun things, but there was one thing that stood out.THE CANNONBALL FIGHT! That was so much fun! Well really the whole day!We were being atacked by pirates! First we were being yolman we (were packing a chest),suddenly we were attacked by pirates! After that we were gambling for shells. That was fun! Then my favorite part the cannonball fight! We were trying to hit the other teams ships with balls out of a cannon! I shot one. Then we thew the balls with our hands. We won! Exploring Extremes was awesome!

The best thing I did this week

The best thing I did this week was the exploring the seas on a world voyage. We were doing extreme sailing and we would be attacked by pirates! On board there were a few doldrums and we would gambel for shells,to sell back in Europe after our world voyage! All of us got to keep a cool shell. Then began the cannonball fight! There were excitments, screams of fun, and shipwrecks. All the excitment of a real battle. After all that fun we had art where we made fish stamps. Any fish you like. We came back to the sea to discover a lost ship with real artifacts! Then we explored the galopagos islands. There were iguanas, strange birds, tortisos, and sea lions. We went in a submarine down 3,000 feet. There were all sorts of interesting fish. You guys out there reading this, get up and sign your kids up for Exploring Extremes!

Our week at Camp

This week at camp we did many fun activities, such as
  1. Mountaineering
  2. Hurricanes and  Dinosaurs
  3. Bridges
  4. Pirate Adventures ( including a cannonball war)
  5. Fishing
We really enjoyed the pirate adventures, especially the cannonball war and mountaineering was so so so fun, too.  When we did the hurricanes, our storm shelter got totally demolished.  One of our bridges broke at 210 pounds, the other at 12 pounds, and a lot of bridges had three layers while i had a lot (9).  So, for the most part, I mean the whole thing, it was

totally radical

Exploring Extremes

This  Camp was awesome! We have had a cannonball fight and attacked other ships, had a hurricane and got blown all over the place, got almost got killed climbing and puting up a tent on a mountain and made mountains and ocean animals in art. We even explored a ship wreck with real items from a ship! We launched rockets and even managed to hit a teacher 4 times(once right in the heart). These rockets were made of straws, paper and model magic. In technology, we played games. The best game in my opinion was Odel Lake in which my high score was 1766. This was the best camp I’ve ever taken!

Exploring Extremes

     Monday:

Today was extreme weather and Mountaineering. We had a hurricane and learned how fast you have to set a tent on a mountain and then we set up a tent.

     Tuesday:

Today was Extreme ages and engineering, we learned about making a bridge.

    Wednesday:

Today was extreme Shipwrecks we learned about what divers found on a ship and we also had a cannon ball fight.

That is what we did for the first three days at camp.

Exploring Extremes Camp 2008

At camp we did a lot of crazy things, like had a cannon battle and were hit by a hurricane.  Each day we did some thing different. On the first day we did mountain climbing. Some of the activities we did were:  Set up a 3 person tent  while some one was blowing a leaf blower in your face, simulate what’s it like when your on a mountain (walking on a line looking through binoculars the wrong way.), Seeing how fast you can get in and out of climbing clothes, I think the record was 1 sec to get out. The second day we had the hurricane and we built suspension bridges out of Popsicle sticks and then we saw how much weight they held, ours held 13 lbs for 2seconds! (before pieces flew everywhere). We also shot off hand made rockets. The third day we did Extreme Ages. The fourth day we saw how many small blocks we could fit into a box like yoemen, we fit 177. Then we had the cannon battle.  Our last day is about the deep ocean.

EE @ The Ripley Place

My favorite part of Exploring Extremes was when we played computer games. I liked The Oregon Trails game the best because it was fun, and you could type in your own names for the characters. I always died, so it was HILARIOUS when I got to type the epitaph. Yeah, and I never got to Oregon, because I kept dying, but oh well, haha.*<:o) The camp’s called Exploring Extremes, and we simulated extreme events, This is my first year here, but I had a good time…..:-D:-$:-#C=:^) >:D<l*-*l;-) <l:^):-h^)o(^

Summer Camp in dc

At camp this summer I had fun. We did all kinds of things, like playing the Oregon Trail on the computer. I made it all the way to Oregon from Boston on $1,600 to care for my whole family. It was five of us there so we had to have enough of every thing. I also liked Extreme Weather, which was mountain climbing. We got to see how mountain climbers feel in low amounts oxygen. Also we did tent building and saw how mountain climbers have to build their tents in less than 60 seconds, or elso they may frezze in the extreme temperatures. That was the funnest part of camp.

Exploring Extremes 08

The first day of camp was mountain climbing. We all had to create a pyramid with mini cubes and snow gloves on. We also tried on climbing equipment and got in shape with exercises the climbers have to do, and set up a tent.  Day two was Extrememe Ages and Engineer. We built model dinasours, scaled bridges and constructed shapes with construction blocks.  You will have to guess that I enjoyed the activities for the rest of the week.  You will have to try this to know what we did for the other days.  All you need to know is that you will have an extreme adventure if you were in this camp.   You need to experience this camp for yourself.   All of the instructors and all to YTA’s were awesome.  I really enjoyed this experience and I will do it again if I had the chance to.  Thank you to everyone who helped me when I injured ankle, you  took great care of me and I really liked that.
