- Day 1 For their first day our campers had a wild array of activities to learn the beginnings of Marine Biology. They built their own Zooplankton and raced them (for the slowest) in Sinking Slowly. Our aquariums for the week were begun with salinity testing and arranging of the décor. Every one is eagerly awaiting our Mollie fish to be added tomorrow. After lunch they created stuffed sharks, dorsal fins and all! In the afternoon they also were taught how to create their own web blogs and take the pictures to match. Click here to view our first entries including, poems, photos and write-ups of our first day!
- Day 2 Today our campers learned to test water quality, created their own shark and conquered the world of Odell Lake. For our water quality portion campers got to use chemicals to not only solve the mystery of Catching a Fish but also got to make sure their new made aquariums where ready for fish. Campers also learned about filtration to make that final step towards life in the tank. We finished our stuffed sharks and learned about shark teeth and the many different kinds of sharks. We finished out our day with computers which included blogging and exploring the food chain with Odell Lake. A new group of campers got to blog and take pictures next we move to video!
- Day 3 Today our tanks were joined by Mollies! We got to not only acclimate them to our water but also map their behavior once they were in their new habitat. For the morning lab our campers also got to go deep-sea fishing with special goggles and the campers with the most fish found won. The sharks were finished with pazazz, painted and stuffed to perfection. In the afternoon tech time was a combo of Wood Car Ralley experimentation and creating our own video blogs about our day, below is a medley of all our video blogs.
- Day 4 For our labs today our students performed a Turtleoscopy! We also got to do observations with video microscopes and uncover artifacts from a Shipwreck. In art students designed their own deep-sea creatures. But to better highlight our day we began the depiction of our days through video. We made our own storybooks and filmed away ... enjoy!
- Day 5 The final day of camp began with a Sea Life Grab bag. Then everyone got to rescue a Manatee with Oh Manatee! Then in lab the world of Oysters was revealed in Oyster Grab. And our last group got to video tape their day. We finished out our day with seeing Destination Broadways final show. What a great week!
